 Workplace Safety Management

Consultants in this practice group utilize all aspects of Easy Safety Solutions safety expertise to provide practical guidance to employers to develop and maintain effective workplace safety and health management programs. We also assist employers in responding to inspections, appealing citations, and managing workplace safety compliance. We draw upon extensive experience in representing employers before numerous entities, including OSHA both federal and state, state agencies, and related organizations such as state EPA, fire departments, and others. Easy Safety Solutions’ consultants approach matters from a strategic standpoint we work closely with and manage outside firms and professionals, creating a unique multi-disciplinary approach to employee safety and health in the workplace.

Risk Management

Our consultants assist businesses with the overall development and review of safety and health programs, with a special focus on self-audits and inspections, training, record-keeping, integration of safety programs with other employment policies and procedures, and efforts to minimize related citations and or repeat citations. Easy Safety Solutions’ consultants utilize industry-specific experience to learn and meet a client's business needs.Whether responding to a simple informal OSHA complaint, dealing with a Federal or State OSHA inspection, our consultants assist businesses / employers in determining areas of vulnerability, determining the process needed for response.

Defense & Citation Appeals

When OSHA or other safety-related citations are issued, our consultants help employers evaluate their position and minimize exposure to penalties and fines. We have broad experience in handling cases involving repeat or willful citations, corporate-wide investigations. Whether negotiating a settlement at an OSHA informal conference, or defending an employer in, our consultants use their knowledge and experience to vigorously defend employers.

Abatement and correction issues arise after the issuance of safety citations, regardless of whether the citations are contested. Our consultants provide assistance with ongoing OSHA abatement commitments, as well as providing assistance to employer efforts to improve safety, eliminate hazards, or comply with multi-year abatement or corporate obligations.

Occupational Safety and Health

Easy Safety Solutions’ consultants work with employers to prevent workplace safety and health problems. Our preventive work includes advice on how to comply with applicable federal and state workplace safety regulations, including standards such as NFPA, NEC, ANSI, etc. We represent employers during safety and health inspections and in enforcement actions brought by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and state safety agencies.

Additionally, we assist employers to establish and implement safety and health programs, as well as policies and procedures addressing safety in the workplace. We coordinate with various departments to develop JSA’s (Job Safety Analysis), SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) based on operations and processes.

Written Safety Policies and Plans

Support and Consultation

Management and other personnel responsible with the implementation of the Safety Policies and Procedures on a day-by-day basis will sometimes feel they need the support of additional expertise. ESS will, provide proactive support to your Company and your management team, responding to their needs in a timely and professional manner.

Standard Safety Operating Procedures (SSOP’s)

Part of your safety should include clearly defined Standard Safety Operating Procedures, developed to make certain that your employees are operating to accepted safe methods of work. This includes task and or operation specific methods procedures, with written safety instructions and job safety analysis (JSA’s). ESS will work close with your managers to develop SSOP’s of work and tasks, built to suit the unique needs of the operations you undertake (no two places of employment are likely to be the same). ESS will provide you with the means to communicate the content of your SSOP’s to the workforce and undertake a review and revision process where this is identified as necessary.

Hazards Identification(s)

Every place of work is different and each company will have its own unique safety needs.  Those needs must be identified in order for your safety management system to address these issues placed on you as an employer and business owner in this very dynamic EHS regulatory world.

Chemical and Hazardous Substance Identification and Control

There can be few places of work that are unaffected by the control of chemical and hazardous substances. Even the most innocuous of substances can present problems. All employers are required to carry out Haz-Mat assessments of the substances they store, use, handle and transport. Measures to inform and protect the workforce must also be in place.
ESS will work with your managers to ensure that systems in your company and business are suitable and sufficient and that clearly established duties are addressed.

General Safety Inspections 

The principle of safety inspections and risk assessments is long established as a means of identifying workplace hazards and determining suitable control measures. This will include on-site safety services and routine safety inspections with written reports submitted to senior management. These reports will ensure that you are kept abreast as to the status quo of the safety management function in your business. The management regulations were substantially amended to introduce the principles of prevention. This sets out how the employer was to approach workplace hazards. We now have the statutory duty to complete a suitable and sufficient risk assessment of the significant hazards in the workplace.

If OSHA or any other regulatory agency inspector calls in, these assessments will probably be one of the first pieces of documentation he/she will ask to see. Properly documented assessments may be the alleviation your company needs in the event of a serious incident.

ESS will provide your managers with the mechanism to record your significant findings (as required) in a user-friendly format and will provide technical support to ensure that the assessments undertaken are suitable and sufficient.

Accident and Incident Procedures

All employers (regardless of the number of employees) are required to establish procedures to meet the demands placed on them under for reporting  Injuries, Diseases and Illnesses incidents. Duties also exist under the Workers Compensation Act, regulations to maintain these records.

Employee Safety Handbook

All employers are required to develop suitable and sufficient Information, Instruction, training & supervision. By providing all your employees with a detailed summary of your Health and Safety policies, and company expectations as regards to these policies and procedures you will fulfill part of these statutory obligations. ESS will prepare your Employee Safety Handbook. Written in clear, concise and comprehensible English your handbook will set out company policy, set standards and summarize your SSOP’s of work.

Contractor Safety

Your company may be involved in large projects where a number of contractors are engaged in a timely completion of a project. The project manager, may wish to convene meetings attended by all interested parties to discuss project safety management, this may be under the duty to inform, address and to coordinate project safety issues. ESS can assist in successful project management either directly at the meetings on your behalf or by providing your managers with practical support prior to the project meeting.

Permits

All businesses have the obligation to improve and to better control tasks that may be deemed as “higher” risk, and or “extreme caution” needed in order to execute. These permit are; Safe Work, Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Break, Live Work, Excavation, etc.

ESS can assist in development, control and implementation of these permits, both for employees who are engaged in activities that are not part of their daily job duties and activities, and contractors that are performing any work on your company premises.
